The Black Oak
In 1884, French Count Alexander made Hanoi his home and built a castle on Rue de Chanvre. There, he met Vân - a local girl who became his maid to repay her family's debts. Over time, their bond blossomed into a quiet, tender love. But their story ended in heartbreak when Alexander discovered Vân was a spy for the Vietnamese resistance. Despite her tearful confession of love and the revelation that she was carrying his child, he left her behind and returned to France.
Inspired by Alexander’s private gatherings - shaped by quiet wealth and timeless taste - The Black Oak is a tribute to his hidden wine cellar, where influential minds once met beneath the soft glow of oak and candlelight. At its heart stands the rare black oak - a symbol of strength, resilience, and refined elegance.
